Natalie Portman Oscar winner
Oscar’s Best Actress Academy Award goes to a 29-year-old Israeli-American actress Natalie Portman on Sunday.
In her role as an unhinged ballerina in ‘Black Swan’ the actress was considered favorite for the award and having dominated the various award brought her name leading to the Oscars.
Portman was trained 5 hours a day within six months just to prepare for ‘Black Swan.’ It took nine years discussing before the project was made with director Darren Aronofsky. When the shooting was started in 2009, the film does not secure any financing.
Desperately insecure character she played and possibly a virgin securing the dual lead roles in ‘Swan Lake’ she also competes with professional jealousies and severe rivalries in the show.
The film hit commercially and critically with worldwide sales of ticket of not less than $200-million. Portman met a gentleman dancer on the Black Swan set. To surprise, Portman announced that she was pregnant and would marry the baby’s father. Previously in 2005 she received an Oscar nomination for her supporting role in ‘Closer’.
Four-time nominee Annette Bening for “The Kids Are All Right”, previous Oscar winner ‘Nicole Kidman’ for “Rabbit Hole,” ‘Jennifer Lawrence’ for “Winter’s Bone,” and ‘Michelle Williams’ for “Blue Valentine” were the rivals of Portman.
