Surrogacy is a common trend throughout the globe which is found to be more involved with the celebrities. The famous Sir Elton John and David furnish couple has now used a surrogate mother to give birth to Zachary, the newest member of the family.
The Canadian filmmaker and the renowned UK singer and musician are happy now to have a child born to a surrogate mother. The surrogate lives in California, says the couple. They told USMagazine.com that Zachary is in great health and doing very well. The child is a normal delivery and is deemed as healthy by the doctors. The surrogate mother is also healthy after giving birth. They also told USMagazine.com that they now feel proud parents. They did not provide details of the surrogacy. In a statement, the company told the website that they are really besieged with delight and happiness at this magnificent moment.
They further said that the baby boy weighs 3.6 kg (7lb15oz) which is a good weight for a baby. When asked about the surrogate mother, a member of the couple said that the privacy of the surrogate mother is respected and intended to be protected. The couple also said that the details of the surrogacy arrangements would not be discussed.
But this is not the first case of surrogacy. Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City star icon) and Mathew Broderick (her actor husband) have also been associated with surrogacy. They had twin girls from a surrogate mother June 2008 and 2009. This surrogacy is also associated with the top Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin. He also used a surrogate mother to give birth to twin baby boys.
David Furnish and Sir Elton John met in 1993. They connected in a communal ceremony in 2005. The couple tried to adopt a boy from Ukraine. The boy named Lev was reported to suffer from HIV and the couple came across the HIV positive boy in an orphanage. The couple has always planned to adopt a child. The couple was denied from this by the Ukrainian officials. The officials said that the couple’s marriage is not recognized by Kiev. They said that the 63 year old Sir Elton John and his partner Mr. Furnish 48 were too old. The ministry also stated that the law is same for all- for a minister, a president, Elton John.
Mr. Furnish with an interview with BBC in December said that they were trying their best to ensure that Lev and his brother have the best health and care. The couple however now has finally made their dreams become reality. They are cherishing the birth of the child to the surrogate mother.
